0.1.0 is the first build in which all three programs work together: media server, relay and client.

What works

  • In the LAN: the client finds the server via mDNS or address, pairs with pinned key and certificate, the admin creates libraries, the scanner recognises movies and series including versions and artwork, metadata comes from TMDB.
  • From anywhere: via your own relay (path B, the relay never sees content) or directly via hole punching; QUIC/HTTP-3 with TLS 1.3, TCP/HTTP-2 as fallback.
  • Playback: Direct Play with range requests, remux and transcode as HLS/fMP4 through one FFmpeg process per session with hardware encoders, tone mapping, keyframe-accurate segments, Dolby Vision pass-through, intro/outro on demand, resume after connection loss.
  • Clients: Qt Quick on Windows and Linux with libmpv, Android with Media3; “Tenjin Dark” design for desktop, phone (portrait and landscape), tablet and TV, full administration with the remote control as well.
  • Operation: back pressure across the whole stream chain, orphaned sessions are cleaned up, load balancing per session, client diagnostics from the administration.

Tested with real data

A series library with 159 series and 9,533 episodes, 4K movies with Dolby Vision, playback on desktop, phone and Nvidia Shield in direct, pass-through and termination mode, pause and disconnect tests of up to five minutes.

Not yet

Music, audiobooks and books, the Plex import, Apple platforms and load balancing across several servers. The schema may still change before 1.0; this build is meant for test operation.
